I’ve recently visited my 5 year old cousin and his parents set up his room with monkey wall decals and that really got me to raise more than an eyebrow because I would have never expected that such a simple concept, compared with the Disney or Hollywood themed decals we have looked at so far, could have such a powerful impact. But the fact is that the wall decals they had chosen to use were so alive, so colorful and imaginative that I immediately fell in love with them and as soon as I got home I started searching on the internet and found out that actually that in the Indian culture there is a character that is appealing both to children, because of his mischievous character, and to philosophers because of the numerous hidden symbols he embodies, and he is a monkey known as the Monkey King or Hanuman. I personally can’t wait to visit my cousin again to tell him about Hanuman and to keep with the tradition of my site I also looked at the monkey wall decals I could find.

And to start of I actually found the monkey wall decals that inspired me in my cousin’s room and they are made by KR International. As I see it the trick is to paint the room in bright yellow which will be tempered by the colors of the wall decals. The will of course work with any other color but that is how I saw them and I think they were awesome. Also they have that great quality I love about all decals of their type in that they are formed by many pictures that tell a story within themselves. So you can actually spread them around the room for a much stronger effect. Of course you can also create one coherent image on just one of the walls of the room but why waste such beautiful designs and just force them together in one spot. And the best thing about these decals is that they can be peeled away from the wall and stuck on anywhere else. So they are the perfect monkey wall decals as far as I am concerned.

However I do tend to get easily fixated on something so I have looked at some alternative monkey wall decals and I think that the ones from Room Mates are also great because they create a much more accurate jungle scene for the monkeys and they somehow remind me of the monkey in Jungle Book so that is a big plus for the Room Mates offer. However I honestly don’t think these decals would work by themselves so you will be stuck in creating a picture and setting it up on one single wall or perhaps in a corner. These monkey wall decals also can be easily peeled away and repositioned so that is the big plus why I also included them here.

Not sure if out of all the wall decals out there the monkey wall decals are the ones I would go with, particularly if I wasn’t going to change them for new ones with new themes the next year like my father did for me throughout my childhood but perhaps I would give them a chance seeing how they are the perfect way to introduce my child to a new culture so he will grow up knowing more than just the European imported stories of Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood. So the monkey wall decals are for me more than just pictures on a wall, they are a conversation starter with a child, which is great.
